Clindamycin HCl

Indication

YSP Tidact (Clindamycin) is indicated in the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria. YSP Tidact is also indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci. Its use should be reserved for penicillin-allergic patients or other patients for whom, in the judgment of the physician, penicillin is inappropriate. Because of the risk of colitis, before selecting YSP Tidact the physician should consider the nature of the infection and the suitability of less toxic alternatives (eg, erythromycin).

Instruction

Take YSP Tidact exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Take the capsule with a full glass of water to keep it from irritating your throat.
• To make sure this medicine is not causing harmful effects, you may need frequent medical tests during treatment.
• If you miss a dose, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Drug interaction

Inform your doctor about all drugs you are taking and especially about erythromycin, kaolin-pectin, live bacterial vaccines. YSP Tidact may increase the effects of drugs used during surgery so your doctor should know if you are taking YSP Tidact and plan to be operated.
